USS Enterprise (CVN-65)

Burleigh was one of the naval architects who designed parts of the USS Enterprise.  He related that he designed three of the four aircraft elevators.

Interestingly, the USS Enterprise was decommissioned December 1, 2012, a few months before Burleigh’s death.  The Wikipedia article says the USS Enterprise “served for 51 consecutive years, longer than any other U.S. aircraft carrier”.  Burleigh often recounted that he lived longer than his father or grandfather, and probably “longer than any other male in my blood line.”
